BTS concerts drive major security and infrastructure responses in Lima and Bogotá
The South Korean group BTS is holding major concert series in Lima, Peru, and Bogotá, Colombia, impacting local infrastructure and security operations.
In Lima, authorities have implemented a comprehensive security and transport plan for the three concerts at Estadio San Marcos on October 7, 9, and 10. The Municipalidad Metropolitana de Lima and the National Police of Peru (PNP) are coordinating to manage crowds, with 450 officers deployed per date and 180 buses provided by the ATU to facilitate transport. The Public Prosecutor's Office has also inspected the stadium to verify structural safety and evacuation routes. Authorities have explicitly denied rumors of a temporary stadium closure and have prohibited alcohol sales during the events.
In Bogotá, BTS recently completed performances at Estadio Nemesio Camacho El Campín, setting a new attendance record with over 53,000 fans per night, surpassing previous records held by Karol G and Coldplay. While the concerts generated significant economic activity, the intensive use of the venue caused notable damage to the pitch. The stadium administrator, Sencia, has initiated an agronomic contingency plan to restore the grass through fertilization, aeration, and reseeding before scheduled football matches in mid-October.
