BTS drives global interest in Korean culture and language

The South Korean group BTS is experiencing a significant cultural and economic resurgence following a hiatus. The group's return includes the release of the album 'ARIRANG' and plans for an international tour, alongside major events like K-Fest in Mexico City.

Beyond musical success, the group is driving global interest in the Korean language, Hangul. Historically, Hangul was a phonetic system used by the common people and women to bypass the elite's use of Chinese characters. While once dismissed by conservatives as 'women's writing,' it became the official national system in 1894 to combat illiteracy.

Central to the group's international operations is the leader, RM (Kim Nam-joon). As the first member to join HYBE (formerly Big Hit Entertainment) in 2010, RM serves as the group's primary spokesperson and translator. His ability to navigate English-speaking markets has been vital for the group's presence at major global events such as the Grammy Awards and Billboard Music Awards.
