Before achieving international fame, members faced diverse backgrounds. Jin, for instance, grew up in a stable middle-class family in Gwacheon and was initially interested in acting after watching the drama ‘Queen Seondeok’. He was recruited as a trainee by BigHit after being approached on a bus. Suga, hailing from Daegu, came from a more modest background; his interest in rap was inspired by the group Epik High, though his parents initially discouraged his career choice due to the financial uncertainty of the music industry.
Beyond their personal histories, the group is noted for songs with deep metaphorical meanings. Tracks such as ‘Tomorrow’ address youth frustration and uncertainty, ‘RUN’ explores the intensity of young love, and ‘Spring Day’ uses winter metaphors to discuss longing and grief.
