All seven members completed South Korea’s mandatory military service, with Jin enlisting in 2022 and the remaining members following in 2023; the final member finished in June 2025. Their service break allowed the band to regroup and produce new music without defections. BTS’s participation in the World Cup halftime show marks the first time a K‑pop act will headline the event, aiming to draw global attention to both the tournament and the group’s comeback.
