Bu Gia Map National Park rescues and rehabilitates endangered wildlife

The Bu Gia Map National Park's rescue and conservation center in Dong Nai, Vietnam, is actively working to protect and reintroduce endangered and rare wildlife species into their natural habitats. The center manages animals rescued from various circumstances, including those injured by traps, confiscated from illegal captivity, or those that have lost survival instincts due to long-term human contact.

To ensure successful reintroduction, the center employs a comprehensive rehabilitation process. This includes medical treatment for injuries, specialized nutritional adjustments, physical conditioning, and training in foraging and movement. Staff members also conduct rigorous assessments of an animal's ability to adapt to the wild before release.

In the first half of 2026, the center received 88 animals requiring emergency care. Rescued species include several threatened primates and mammals, such as yellow-cheeked gibbons, black-shanked doucs, pygmy slow lorises, otters, and binturongs. Officials note that these efforts are vital for maintaining wild populations, preserving genetic resources, and restoring the ecological balance of the forest ecosystems.
