BUA Cement trains 60 youths and hires 52 at Sokoto plant in Nigeria

BUA Cement PLC held a graduation ceremony in Sokoto, Nigeria, for 60 youths who completed a six‑month technical training programme to operate heavy‑duty machines used in cement production and mining. The company offered automatic employment to 52 of the graduates, aiming to empower host‑community residents and support the state’s effort to curb youth unemployment.

Managing Director Engr. Muhammad Haliru Binji (represented by Plant Director Engr. Aminu Bashir) said the initiative is part of BUA’s corporate‑social‑responsibility policy and its human‑capital‑development strategy. Governor Ahmad Aliyu praised the programme, describing it as a vital contribution to reducing poverty and fostering inclusive economic growth, while Commissioner for Commerce Haruna Abbas highlighted the partnership’s alignment with Sokoto State’s 9‑Point Smart Agenda. Local officials, including Chairman of Wamakko Local Government Alhaji Umar Muhammad Dundaye, expressed gratitude for the investment in community capacity building.
