Buan County Cultural Foundation hosts poetry school graduation

The Buan County Cultural Foundation held a graduation ceremony on October 9 for the ‘Halmi-Halbi Children's Poetry School’. This program, part of the ‘Gagahoho’ cultural arts education support project, was designed for elderly residents in Buan to express their lives and daily experiences through literature.

Operating over eight sessions between July and August, the program included 12 participants with an average age of 83. The participants used poetry to recount childhood memories, family stories, and everyday encounters. The initiative allowed seniors to transition from passive consumers of culture to active creators.

The program culminated in the publication of a poetry collection titled ‘Let’s Continue Being Students Even After Graduation’. The book features the participants' poems, records of their educational activities, self-portraits, and handwritten interviews. The foundation aims to continue providing life-cycle-specific cultural arts education to foster community engagement and lifelong learning.
