BUAP academics receive Mexico's highest lifetime research distinction

Five academics from the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP) have been awarded the title of National Emeritus Researcher, the highest lifetime distinction granted by the Mexican state. The recognition is issued by the Secretaría de Ciencia, Humanidades, Tecnología e Innovación (SECIHTI) and the Sistema Nacional de Investigadoras e Investigadores (SNII).

The honored researchers include María Eugenia Mendoza Álvarez from the Instituto de Física (IFUAP); Andrés Fraguela Collar, Rosendo Leovigildo Lozada Morales, and Martha Alicia Palomino Ovando from the Facultad de Ciencias Físico Matemáticas (FCFM); and Francisco Javier Meléndez Bustamante from Ciencias Químicas (FCQ). These appointments are based on evaluations of scientific and technological contributions, the training of new researchers, and the consolidation of knowledge in Mexico.

With these new appointments in the fields of Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, BUAP now has a total of 27 National Emeritus Researchers, 24 of whom remain active. This distinction highlights the institution's commitment to scientific excellence and high-quality academic training.
