BUAP launches psychosocial support program for pregnant students

The Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP) has launched the Autumn 2026 call for its Psychosocial Support Program for Pregnant Students (PAPEE). Managed by the Institutional Coordination for Gender Equality (CIIGE), the initiative aims to prevent school dropout by providing pregnant students with emotional and psychosocial tools to manage their pregnancy while continuing their studies.

The program, which originated in the Faculty of Psychology in 2012 and was institutionalized for the university community in 2024, offers workshops covering pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum care, emotional management, and life projects. According to Ana Lucía Bonilla Calvario, the program has supported 24 students to date.

To qualify, applicants must be between four and six months pregnant, have no high-risk complications, possess regular gynecobstetric care, and provide medical authorization for psychoprophylactic childbirth exercises. Services are available at Ciudad Universitaria and the Faculty of Psychology.
