Bubba Wallace and Alex Bowman involved in Charlotte crash
A violent multi-car collision during the NASCAR Cup Series Bank of America 400 at Charlotte Motor Speedway ended the races for Bubba Wallace, Alex Bowman, and William Byron.
The incident occurred during Stage 2 when Bowman’s No. 48 Chevrolet Camaro snapped while he was attempting to pass Wallace for fifth place. Bowman lost control and struck the left rear of Wallace’s No. 23 Toyota Camry. The impact sent Wallace into the outside retaining wall, followed by a second impact on the backstretch. Bowman’s car then bounced into the path of William Byron, resulting in all three drivers being knocked out of the race.
Following the crash, medical teams attended to Wallace, who exited his vehicle slowly. Despite the severity of the impact, all three drivers were reported to be okay. Wallace described the event as a racing incident, stating, “He and I don't want to give up spots... But he just got loose and got us.” Bowman took responsibility for the accident, noting that he overcorrected after his car snapped, saying, “It's on me. Should be better than that.”
