Bubble Cosmetics sunscreen banned in UK over safety risks

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has banned the Bubble Cosmetics Sunscreen Pack in the United Kingdom after labeling it as ‘high risk’. The products, which were originally shipped from the United States, were rejected at the UK border.

The OPSS stated that the sunscreen poses a hazard due to ‘inadequate labelling and traceability information’. Specifically, the product failed to meet mandatory cosmetic labeling requirements, including necessary instructions for use and regulatory traceability, violating Regulation (EC) 1223/2009. The rejected items are identified by their yellow cardboard packaging.

Bubble Cosmetics products are sold through retailers including Boots and ASOS. In light of the ban, the NHS has provided guidance for consumers to ensure sunscreen safety, advising users to check for a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of at least 30, 4-star UVA protection, and valid expiry dates.
