Buca district develops new youth park and hosts orienteering event

The Buca district in İzmir is seeing significant developments in sports and urban infrastructure. The İzmir Liberation Orienteering Days recently concluded, a four-day event held from September 3-6, 2026. Organized by Buca Municipality in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Turkish Orienteering Federation, the competition utilized historical and natural landmarks, including Greek houses, Hasanağa Park, and Yedigöller, as course routes.

Simultaneously, the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality is finalizing the Buca Aliberti Youth Park. This project transforms a 22,600-square-meter previously unused area into a public space featuring tennis and padel courts, walking paths, children's playgrounds, a neighborhood garden, and a cafeteria. The development aims to increase accessible public spaces while preserving existing greenery, such as olive, almond, and pine trees.
