Bucaramanga approves Colombia's first social football supporter policy

The Bucaramanga Council has approved Colombia’s first public policy for ‘social barrismo,’ a strategic initiative aimed at transforming the relationship between football supporter groups and the city.

The policy, which has a ten-year duration, involves a projected investment of 15 billion pesos. Rather than focusing solely on security and control, the program seeks to integrate football supporters as active community members through six strategic pillars: coexistence between fan groups, access to education and employment, prevention of excessive alcohol and substance use, and increased participation in municipal programs and sporting events.

The initiative was developed over eighteen months with contributions from football supporters, the Mayor's Office, academia, and local residents.
