Bogotá authorities identify 9-year-old girl found in sewer
Authorities in Bogotá have identified the victim of a tragic discovery in the Ciudad Bolívar district. The body of 9-year-old Ana Lucía González Mendoza was found inside a sewer structure in the Juan José Rendón neighborhood on Tuesday, September 15.
González Mendoza had been reported missing on September 14 in Mosquera, Cundinamarca. Following her disappearance, authorities activated the 'Alerta Rosa' search mechanism. The recovery of the body involved the National Police, the Bogotá Fire Department, and the CTI of the Fiscalía.
Using surveillance footage from the Porvenir Río sector in Mosquera, officials were able to identify a suspect in the disappearance. The suspect was subsequently located in the Fontibón locality of Bogotá. Judicial investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances of the death and establish criminal responsibility.
