Buc‑ee’s Sets Opening Window for Largest Gas Station in North Carolina

Buc‑ee’s announced that its new site at 1447 Trollingwood‑Hawfields Road in the 1,200‑acre NC Commerce Park will open between October and December 2027. The 75,000‑square‑foot store – about 1.3 football fields – will be the largest Buc‑ee’s location in the Southeast and the biggest gas station in the Carolinas, featuring 120 fuel pumps and roughly 600 parking spaces.

The development is expected to create 200‑300 full‑time jobs and about 100 part‑time positions, with hourly wages ranging from $18 to $33. Traffic analysts project more than 2,000 vehicle trips per hour during peak Saturday periods, highlighting a significant impact on local roadways. The site will not accommodate tractor‑trailers, distinguishing it from traditional truck stops.

With 54 existing locations nationwide, the Mebane project underscores Buc‑ee’s continued growth along key travel corridors and rising demand for large‑format travel centers that combine fuel, food, and retail.
