Bucharest approves partnership to expand bicycle infrastructure

The General Council of Municipal Bucharest (CGMB) has approved a collaboration protocol to promote sustainable urban mobility and accelerate the implementation of the Velo Bucharest Masterplan. The partnership involves the Bucharest City Hall, the Intercommunity Development Association for Bucharest-Ilfov Public Transport (TPBI), and the HaicuBicla Association.

The initiative, known as the InfraVelo Bucharest project, aims to support the development of cycling infrastructure and encourage alternative transport methods. This aligns with the objectives of the Bucharest-Ilfov Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan 2016-2030. The project focuses on collecting and analyzing urban mobility data to provide recommendations for public policy.

According to the HaicuBicla Association, the project seeks to implement measures to reduce traffic accidents and improve infrastructure for pedestrians, people with disabilities, and families. The implementation process is expected to be long-term, requiring significant investment and continuous consultation with civil society and transport users.
