Bucharest authorities begin stabilization of Rahova building

In Bucharest, authorities have begun emergency stabilization works on an apartment building in the Rahova district following a devastating explosion in October 2025. The project, managed by the firm Apolodor, involves installing 480 support pillars, known as “popi,” to secure the structure. The process includes the controlled demolition of upper floors above the fifth level. To ensure safety and legal compliance, workers are equipped with body cameras, and the site is monitored by criminal investigators.

Separately, a structural incident occurred in the Tineretului neighborhood of Sector 4, where concrete pieces from a seventh-floor balcony collapsed onto a parked car. While no injuries were reported, the Inspectorate of State in Construction (ISC) has launched an investigation to assess the stability of the building and determine if other balconies pose a risk.

Additionally, a gas cylinder explosion on Mihai Vodă Street near the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police resulted in two people being hospitalized with burns. One victim is in critical condition at the Bagdasar-Arseni Emergency Hospital with burns covering approximately 80% of their body.
