Bucharest building fire evacuates 28 people, three hospitalized

A violent fire broke out on the third‑floor bedroom of a residential block in Bucharest’s Sector 2 on the evening of 5 July 2026. Heavy smoke filled the stairwell and several floors, prompting an emergency evacuation.

Emergency services rescued 28 residents from the building; six required on‑site medical care and three were taken to hospital. Firefighters deployed multiple units and successfully extinguished the blaze. Authorities have opened an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
