Bucharest City Hall to begin safety works on Rahova explosion site

Bucharest City Hall has announced that safety stabilization works will begin next week on the apartment building in the Rahova district affected by an explosion last October. The municipality confirmed that all necessary technical evaluations have been completed, including the assessment of 270 apartments in five neighboring stairwells and the analysis of a 500-page monitoring report.

Construction crews have already begun site organization. The primary phase of work involves installing temporary support pillars, known as ‘popi’, on the building's staircase according to the technical design. Criminal investigation authorities will permanently accompany workers throughout the duration of the project.

The explosion, which occurred near the ‘Dimitrie Bolintineanu’ Theoretical High School, resulted in four deaths and 20 injuries.
