Bucharest hot water supply halted for extensive heating network upgrades

The municipal heating company, Compania Municipală Termoenergetica București (CMTEB), announced a series of modernization works on the city’s primary hot‑water network. Activities will replace, repair and upgrade pipelines in several districts, with financing from European Union and government funds.

In Sector 5, a 500 mm pipe on Șoseaua Panduri will be modernized, suspending hot‑water service to 55 points serving 845 blocks and 42,238 apartments from 13 July to 18 July 2026. In Sector 1, a 600 mm pipe between Bulevardul Iancu de Hunedoara and Strada Nicolae Caramfil will be worked on, affecting 18 points, 230 blocks and 8,842 apartments between 13 July and 31 July.

Sector 3 will see two projects: a 1,000 mm pipe and a 900 mm pipe across the Mihai Bravu–Vitan corridor, each stopping service to 92 points (about 1,016 blocks) from 20 July to 2 August 2026. An additional 1,100‑block project on an 1,100 mm pipe in the city’s south will suspend service to 72 points and two modules.

CMTEB will restore water flow gradually as sections are completed, and residents can obtain updates via a hot‑line (031 9442, 0800 820 002) or the Termoalert app.
