Bucharest Mayor Ciprian Ciucu Announces Transparent Recruitment for All Municipal Company Leadership Posts

On 30 July 2026, Bucharest Mayor Ciprian Ciucu announced that all positions on the boards of administration and director‑level posts in the city’s municipal companies will be opened to competition through a transparent, competitive process. The mayor published “letters of expectation” for candidates and outlined the bureaucratic procedures for shareholder consultation. He said a proposal will be submitted at the next council meeting to launch the recruitment contests, emphasizing the goal of professionalising and depoliticising the companies after eight years of effort.

Ciucu stressed that the move is intended to restore confidence in the municipal sector and to place the city administration on a solid footing.
