Bucharest opens Calea Victoriei for summer beach club and civic events
On Sunday 28 June, the city of Bucharest staged the "Străzi Deschise – București, Promenadă urbană" program along Calea Victoriei. The Radisson Blu Hotel Bucharest transformed the boulevard’s frontage into a pop‑up Nami Beach Club, offering heated poolside loungers, a cocktail bar and live music. Hotel director Atakan Turhan said the beach‑club concept "has become one of the defining elements of summer at Radisson Blu Hotel Bucharest" and aims to bring a seaside atmosphere to the city centre.
The same day featured a guided cultural tour of Calea Victoriei led by historian Anita Sterea, and a public debate on seismic‑risk reduction moderated by Răzvan Munteanu with specialists Dragoș Marcu and others. An exhibition on seismic safety was displayed by the municipal administration, while the European Consumer Centre provided information on consumer rights within the EU. Throughout the afternoon the boulevard was pedestrian‑only, with traffic diverted to surrounding streets. The program was free and open to residents and tourists, highlighting both cultural heritage and urban resilience.
