Bucharest police rescue teenager from smoke-filled apartment

Police in Bucharest rescued a 16-year-old girl from a smoke-filled apartment on September 16 following a domestic conflict. The girl's mother alerted emergency services via 112, reporting that her daughter was alone and intended to harm herself.

Upon arrival, officers from the 13th Police Station found the apartment door locked and thick smoke billowing from the residence. To reach the teenager, officers forced entry into the smoke-filled home and successfully evacuated her from the immediate danger.

Investigations revealed that the adolescent had set fire to a rug, which caused the heavy smoke accumulation. The teenager was transported to a medical facility for specialized care and evaluation. Authorities have also contacted the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection to assess the situation and determine necessary follow-up measures.
