The Bucharest General Council has approved several significant fiscal and social measures aimed at addressing the city's budget constraints. A major decision involves the suspension of social integration incentives for approximately 52,000 adults with disabilities until November 1, 2030. To address an accumulated debt of nearly 700 million lei, Mayor Ciprian Ciucu announced that the city will instead pay beneficiaries 250 lei per month to gradually clear the arrears.

Additionally, the council voted to eliminate the Materna Voucher program for pregnant women, a move expected to save up to 100 million lei over four years. Reductions were also approved for financial incentives provided to certain categories of children with disabilities, with rates adjusted based on the severity of the condition.

On the infrastructure front, the council approved a water tariff increase of 0.85 lei per cubic meter. This increase will fund a nearly 500 million euro investment program with Apa Nova, targeting the modernization and expansion of 221 kilometers of water and sewage networks across all six sectors of Bucharest. These investments are intended to improve service reliability and protect against climate-related flooding.

The decisions have sparked political tension, with PSD Bucharest leader Daniel Băluță criticizing the measures as being implemented at the expense of the city's most vulnerable citizens.
