Bucharest Stock Exchange receives approval for new MTS Code

The Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) has approved a new Multilateral Trading System (MTS) Code for the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB). This regulatory overhaul reorganizes the market into three distinct segments: the SME Growth Market, the Base Market (AeRO Market), and an International MTS for instruments admitted to trading on other regulated markets.

The newly created SME Growth Market is designed to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) during their expansion phases. By aligning with European MiFID II standards, this segment provides companies with access to a simplified European growth prospectus, more flexible market abuse regulation applications, and eligibility for dedicated European SME support programs.

BVB CEO Remus Vulpescu stated that the move is a strategic step to modernize the Romanian capital market and provide high-potential companies with a clear pathway toward funding and visibility while maintaining high standards of transparency and corporate governance.
