Bucharest to establish sister-city relationship with Kyiv
Bucharest Mayor Ciprian Ciucu has initiated a project to establish a sister-city relationship between Bucharest, Romania, and Kyiv, Ukraine. The proposed agreement aims to consolidate bilateral relations and foster cooperation through the exchange of information and expertise.
According to documents submitted to the Bucharest General Council, the partnership will focus on various administrative sectors, including urban planning, water and sewage, sanitation, street lighting, social assistance, public transport, and local infrastructure. The agreement also includes provisions for mutual support during crisis situations through the provision of humanitarian, political, and economic assistance.
If approved, the agreement would be signed by Mayor Ciucu and Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko. The initiative seeks to facilitate reciprocal visits and expert missions to enhance the local administration and organizational knowledge of both cities.
