Bucharest to host International Meeting of Orthodox Youth in 2026
The International Meeting of Orthodox Youth (ITO) is scheduled to take place in Bucharest from 31 August to 3 September 2026. Organized by the Romanian Orthodox Church, the event will focus on the theme ‘Young People, the Family and Life in Christ.’
Approximately 2,400 young people between the ages of 16 and 35 are expected to attend. This group includes 1,900 participants from the Romanian Patriarchate, the diaspora, and other Autocephalous Orthodox Churches, supported by 500 volunteers from the Archdiocese of Bucharest.
The program features thematic conferences, workshops, prayer sessions, and cultural activities. The event is set to begin on 31 August with a music concert at the Roman Arenas. A significant highlight will be the first Holy Liturgy of 2026, to be celebrated inside the National Cathedral on 3 September.
