Bucharest tram strikes 26‑year‑old motorcyclist amid transport authority shake‑up

A 26‑year‑old motorcyclist was seriously injured after being hit by a tram in Bucharest, Romania. The incident occurred in the capital’s city centre, prompting emergency services to attend the scene.

Following the crash, Bucharest‑Ilfov Mayor Ciprian Ciucu dismissed the head of public transport, Vladimir Ghițulescu, and appointed George Micu, an experienced railway engineer, as the new director of ADI TPBI, the authority that oversees the city’s transport network.
