Bucharest tramway modernization projects advance across multiple sectors

Modernization works for the Bucharest tramway network are progressing on several key lots. On Lot 6, which includes Bulevardul Lacul Tei, Șoseaua Petricani, and Bulevardul Dimitrie Pompeiu, workers have begun preparations for rail installation and are developing the future running track infrastructure. The construction is being carried out by the Tancrad – Erbașu association of builders, with local police managing traffic flow in the Pipera area.

On Lot 5, covering a 1.8-kilometer stretch including Strada Armand Călinescu, Mântuleasa, and Vasile Lascăr, archaeological discoveries have impacted the timeline. Excavations revealed historical foundations, stair fragments, water drainage structures, and elements of an old heating system. While work was previously halted in August due to these findings, archaeologists have proposed the conservation of certain ruins to preserve the city's history, though only a portion of the discovered elements will be kept according to the Bucharest Culture Directorate.
