Bucharest's National Park in Sector 2 stays closed until end‑September for renovation
The National Park in Bucharest’s Sector 2 was closed to the public on 1 August as the final paving phase of its rehabilitation began. While the children’s playground and two dog‑run areas remain accessible, the rest of the park will reopen in stages.
Mayor Rareș Hopincă announced that the first aisle linking Maior Coravu Street to Aleea Parașutiștilor will reopen on 1 September. The northern section, providing access from Maior Coravu to the sports field and central playgrounds, will follow. The entire central area of the park, except the lakeside zone, is scheduled to be fully accessible by 30 September, pending daily monitoring of construction progress.
The mayor urged tighter oversight of the contractor, daily reporting of worker attendance, and adherence to the project timeline to ensure completion by the end of the month.
