Bucheon Sejong Hospital completes heart surgeries for Cambodian children

Bucheon Sejong Hospital has successfully completed heart surgeries and procedures for four Cambodian children suffering from congenital heart disease. This initiative is part of the ‘Cambodia Heart Disease Support Project,’ a long-standing social contribution program involving KB Kookmin Bank, the Financial Supervisory Service, and The Salvation Army.

Earlier in May, medical staff from Bucheon Sejong Hospital and The Salvation Army conducted screenings for 157 children in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. Among them, six children requiring urgent treatment were invited to South Korea for medical care. One notable case involved a 14-year-old girl treated for ventricular septal defect using a minimally invasive patch closure technique.

Now in its 15th year, the collaborative project has provided life-saving treatment to a total of 113 children. To mark the anniversary, a ceremony was held at Bucheon Sejong Hospital where officials and supporters, including figure skater Shin Ji-a, met with the recovering patients to offer encouragement and supplies.
