Buchloe station serves as Swabia's second-largest rail hub

Buchloe station serves as the second-largest transfer hub in the Swabia region, located in Ostallgäu. It acts as a critical junction for travelers moving between Munich or Augsburg and the Allgäu region.

Opened on September 1, 1847, the station was established on the Ludwig-Süd-Nord-Bahn, which connects Hof via Augsburg and Kaufbeuren to Lindau. While the route through Buchloe was not guaranteed—with alternative paths through Landsberg and Waal being considered—the decision was made in 1845 to follow a route via Bobingen, Schwabmünchen, and Buchloe due to its simpler layout.

At the time of its opening, Buchloe was a small town with approximately 850 inhabitants. From its inception, the station played a significant role as one of eleven water and express freight stations between Augsburg and Lindau.
