Buchloe Station is Swabia's second-largest railway hub

Buchloe Station serves as the second-largest transfer hub in the Swabia region, located in the Allgäu area. It acts as a critical junction for travelers moving between Munich or Augsburg and the Allgäu region.

Opened on September 1, 1847, the station was established approximately one kilometer west of the town as part of the Ludwig-Süd-Nord-Bahn, which connects Hof via Augsburg and Kaufbeuren to Lindau. While the route through Buchloe was not the only option considered—with an alternative path via Landsberg and Waal also discussed—the decision was made to follow a simpler route through Bobingen, Schwabmünchen, and Buchloe. From its inception, the station was designated as one of eleven water and express freight stations between Augsburg and Lindau.
