Switzerland: Regional updates on police regulations, fires, and legal changes

Various regional developments and incidents have been reported across Switzerland. In Spreitenbach, the municipal council has updated police regulations to align with federal littering laws. New fines include 80 Swiss francs for a single piece of small waste, such as a cigarette butt, and escalating penalties for larger volumes of waste.

A major fire broke out at a vehicle recycling facility in Buchs, Zurich, causing an industrial building to be completely destroyed. While no injuries were reported, the smoke prompted authorities to advise residents in the Furttal region to close windows and doors. The fire also led to the temporary evacuation of a nearby horse farm and the suspension of railway services.

In the Canton of Bern, authorities are working to restart automated vehicle tracking following a Federal Court ruling. The canton aims to close a regulatory gap by amending the police law to ensure the immediate deletion of non-matches in database comparisons, as required by the court.

Other incidents include a significant attic fire in a multi-family home in Zurich's District 3, which required a large emergency response and thermal imaging drones. Additionally, the Geneva police have released photographs of recovered jewelry and valuables, seeking to identify their rightful owners.
