Buck Martinez inducted into Toronto Blue Jays Hall of Excellence

The Toronto Blue Jays have unveiled their new Hall of Excellence at Rogers Centre as part of the franchise’s 50th anniversary season. The hall, located on the concourse behind right field, is designed to honor the team’s most significant players, coaches, managers, builders, and broadcasters.

Buck Martinez, a 77-year-old franchise icon, was inducted into the hall during a ceremony held ahead of a game against the Seattle Mariners. Martinez’s long history with the organization spans over 40 years, during which he served as a player, manager, and longtime broadcaster. He joins a group of legendary figures in the hall, including José Bautista, Roy Halladay, Dave Stieb, and Cito Gaston.

During the induction, former teammate Dave Stieb praised Martinez for his ability to provide calm and focus during his playing career. The new Hall of Excellence replaces the former Level of Excellence, which will remain on the stadium fascia for the rest of the season before being relocated next year.
