Buckmasters to release ninth edition of whitetail deer record book

Buckmasters is set to release the ninth edition of its whitetail deer record book this fall. The 600-page publication will feature 25,000 entries, including 7,000 new listings added since the 2021 edition. The book utilizes a Full-credit Scoring System designed to provide an accurate account of deer growth without the deductions found in other scoring methods.

In related deer management developments, the National Deer Association is providing resources to help hunters estimate the age of bucks in the field. Experts suggest that instead of focusing solely on antlers, hunters should observe physical characteristics such as neck size, shoulder musculature, leg length, and belly girth to determine a buck's maturity level.
