Budapest: 160 children in state care to watch August 20 fireworks

Approximately 160 children currently in the child protection system, along with their caregivers, will watch the August 20 fireworks, drone show, and light show from the Karmelit in Budapest.

This year's state celebrations feature a shorter, ten-minute fireworks display with a budget of 4 billion forints, compared to the 18 billion forints planned by the previous administration for 2026. Musical events are scheduled across three Budapest locations: an electronic music program at the University embankment, a disco at Kossuth Square following the fireworks, and various alternative and guitar music performances on Margaret Island.
