Budapest and Bratislava airports report record passenger traffic
Major airports in Central Europe are experiencing significant growth in passenger and cargo volumes. Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport recorded its strongest summer ever, with over 6.2 million passengers traveling during the three summer months. September continued this trend with nearly 2 million passengers, supported by a strategy to diversify routes and add new destinations.
Budapest has seen increased transatlantic traffic via new services to Philadelphia and Toronto, as well as expanded capacity to Asia. Additionally, the airport reported its highest monthly cargo volume in June, handling over 42,000 tons of goods.
Similarly, Bratislava Airport (BTS) has reached a historical milestone, surpassing 4 million passengers this year. This marks the first time the airport has exceeded the 4 million mark in its 75-year history. The growth is attributed to an increase in scheduled flights from airlines. Cargo traffic at Bratislava has also grown by 17 percent compared to the previous year, while aircraft movements rose by 43 percent.
