Budapest arena cuts power for Lenny Kravitz show amid crisis
The operator of the Papp László Budapest Sport Arena, Rampart Arena Kft., announced an extraordinary energy‑saving measure for the Lenny Kravitz concert scheduled for August 2. The venue will place its large climate‑control system in a reduced‑power mode, cutting electricity use by roughly 10 % – about 2,000 kWh – while still maintaining a comfortable temperature for spectators.
The step was taken in response to a severe drought, water shortage and an energy crisis affecting Hungary. The company said the reduced operation does not compromise ventilation or comfort, and that office areas of the arena will also have air‑conditioning switched off for the coming week as part of the broader conservation effort.
