Budapest expands night bus network to outlying suburbs

From 1 August, Hungary’s transport ministry launched the next phase of Budapest’s night‑time suburban bus service, adding dozens of new routes to improve connections after midnight. Direct night links depart from Kelenföld to Biatorbágy, Sóskút, Pusztazámor and Etyek, while from 11 August additional buses from Kelenföld will reach Szigethalom, Halásztelek and Tököl, connecting with Metro line M4.

Further extensions include a night line from Újpest Városkapu to Visegrád via Szentendre, Leányfalu, Tahitótfalu and Dunabogdány; northern routes from Solymár to Pilisszentiván and Pilisszántó; and new connections from Pomáz to Pilisszentkereszt and Csobánka. The Stadion hub will serve Veresegyház and nearby settlements, and Ørs Vezér tér will see more frequent buses to Csömör and Nagytarcsa. In the south, night buses from Népliget will travel as far as Dabas, stopping at Alsónémedi, Ócsa, Inárcs, Kakucs and Újhartyán, while a direct service links Budapest with the Kiskunlacháza area. All routes are coordinated with the final metro, HÉV and train timetables to provide smoother transfers and a reliable alternative to driving.
