Budapest giant boa found in Kispest dies after car collision
On Friday, a large boa constrictor escaped onto the streets near the Kispest market in Budapest's 19th district, likely after falling from a delivery truck. Police arrived within minutes, secured the area and, together with the Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden rescue team, captured the animal.
The snake was severely injured when a vehicle ran over it and died despite rapid veterinary intervention. Officials said the species is protected under the CITES agreement and that keeping such exotic animals without a permit is illegal. They warned owners of the responsibility to prevent escapes, noting the animal posed no direct danger to the public.
