Budapest hosts exhibition honoring animator Marcell Jankovics
An outdoor tableau exhibition has opened at the Hungarian Academy of Arts in Budapest to honor the life and work of Marcell Jankovics. The late animator, graphic artist, and illustrator was a recipient of the Kossuth Prize and the Balázs Béla Prize.
The exhibition consists of 16 tableaux curated by Máté Török, featuring texts by Éva Rubovszky and István Orosz. It traces the significant milestones of Jankovics’s career, from his early beginnings to his major successes in animation and graphic arts.
Attila Turi, president of the Hungarian Academy of Arts, noted that Jankovics was deeply connected to the institution from its early stages. Turi described him as an integrative personality whose work explored the intersection of cultures and the preservation of traditions.
