Budapest Hosts Large Protestant Ecumenical Festival Program
The Hungarian Ecumenical Council will hold a two‑day Protestant gathering in Budapest on 19–20 August 2026. The event, called the IV Protestant Ecumenical Assembly, brings together Reformed, Lutheran, Baptist and Methodist churches for open‑air concerts, choral performances, an organ marathon, exhibitions and family‑friendly programmes.
Key sessions include a thanksgiving service at the Lutheran church on Táncsics Mihály u. 28, a children’s interactive music workshop titled “Noah’s Ark” on 19 August, and a series of panel discussions on topics such as the churches’ role under socialism, artificial intelligence and faith, and health and spirituality, featuring scholars and clergy from across Hungary.
The program also features performances by choirs from Pécs, the Baptist Theological Academy, and the Central Reformed Church in Pesterzsébet, as well as a concluding concert by the unified ecumenical choir.
