Budapest hosts retro culture and vintage vehicle festivals

Budapest is hosting two major cultural events focused on historical transport and retro lifestyle.

On August 30, Memento Park will hold a Retro Day, featuring a “COMECON market” garage sale. The event aims to provide a multi-generational experience through vintage items, old advertisements, and classic vehicles such as Trabant and Wartburg cars. The date was moved from October to August to allow families to participate before the start of the school year.

Additionally, the Hungarian Museum of Science, Technology and Transport is organizing the V. Ikarus MiniFestival at the Northern Vehicle Repair Shop. The three-day event showcases over 25 different Ikarus bus models, including the Ikarus 30, 60, 250, 311, 415, and 630 Cabrio. The festival includes guided tours, museum pedagogical routes using historical buses, and special nostalgia routes operated in cooperation with the Budapest Transport Centre (BKK).
