Budapest hosts summer family festivals and revived local market

The renovated Hírös Kosár market opened at the Belvárosi Piacon on Budai Street, featuring a lavender theme, local producers, handcrafted goods and family activities such as a children’s play corner. The organizers plan a follow‑up market on 12 July.

During June and July, Budapest offers a range of free children’s programs. The Generali Gyerek Sziget runs from 19‑21 June on Hajógyári Sziget with concerts, workshops, circus acts and nature‑focused activities. The city’s Museum Night on 20 June provides late‑night museum visits, performances and interactive exhibits. From 21 June, the Óbudai Grund sports and play park opens on Sundays, offering giant chess, trampolines, a large indoor climbing wall and Europe’s biggest inflatable castle. A new Aura Bay light park will debut at the end of June, presenting immersive water‑themed visual installations. Starting 1 July, the Csodák Palotája deep‑sea adventure centre offers marine‑themed games and exhibitions. The Lupa Beach outside Budapest provides a family‑friendly swimming area.
