Budapest man critically injured after falling onto Danube riverbank

A man is in critical condition after falling onto the rocks of the Danube riverbank near the Pest side of the Chain Bridge in Budapest. The incident occurred around 1:23 AM on August 30 following an altercation between guests at a waterfront venue.

Reports indicate that security personnel intervened in a fight using pepper spray. One individual allegedly lost their vision and sense of balance due to the spray, subsequently falling from the embankment. Emergency services transported a man approximately 40 years of age to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Budapest Police Headquarters has launched an investigation into suspected collective assault. Authorities are currently interviewing witnesses and have seized available camera footage to clarify the circumstances of the fall. While the incident occurred near the Pontoon entertainment venue, representatives from the establishment stated the fall took place on a public section of the riverbank rather than their private property.
