Budapest Marathon Festival hits record 39,000 registrations
Registration has closed for the 41st SPAR Budapest Marathon Festival, with over 39,000 participants signed up for various distances. The two-day event, scheduled for October 10–11, remains the largest recreational sports event in Hungary.
A significant milestone was reached in the full marathon category, where the number of individual runners exceeded 10,000 for the first time, surpassing last year's 9,800 participants. The field is highly international, with participants coming from 1,200 Hungarian settlements and 121 countries.
Of the marathon runners, 52 percent are Hungarian and 48 percent are international. The largest group of foreign participants is traveling from the United Kingdom, followed by runners from France, Italy, Germany, and Slovakia. Other notable international representation includes Spain, Poland, the Netherlands, South Korea, and Ireland.
Árpád Kocsis, Managing Director of Budapest Sportiroda, noted that the record-breaking number of participants is a fantastic development for the event's 38-year history.
