Budapest police arrest international burglary gang
Police in Budapest have arrested three members of an international burglary gang consisting of two Georgian nationals and one Bulgarian national. The suspects are accused of carrying out nine daytime residential burglaries across six different districts in Budapest between September 15 and September 25.
Investigators tracked the group using CCTV footage, which identified a dark blue Toyota RAV4 with Ukrainian registration plates used to transport the suspects and stolen goods. The group reportedly entered Hungary from Slovakia. The burglaries were characterized by the suspects entering homes without causing visible damage to entrance doors.
Stolen items included cash, jewelry, expensive watches, and electronic devices, with total estimated damages reaching nearly HUF 17 million. Following their arrest in District V, prosecutors have requested pre-trial detention. The suspects have reportedly refused to cooperate with investigators, and a judge has ordered their detention for 30 days.
