Budapest police arrest teenager following school bomb threat
Police in Budapest have arrested a 17-year-old boy in connection with a bomb threat made against a local school. The suspect reportedly used a public telephone booth in the Zugló district to call emergency services with a distorted voice, claiming an explosive device was present in the building.
Bomb disposal experts from the Readiness Police searched the school, which was empty at the time, but found no explosives or suspicious devices. The teenager has since confessed to the act, stating he sought revenge because students at the school had previously mocked and insulted him. He expressed regret for his actions.
This incident follows a series of similar threats in Budapest, including an October 15 event where over ten institutions received threatening emails, leading to evacuations. While no explosives were found in those cases either, authorities have been investigating such incidents under suspicion of preparing terrorist acts.
