Budapest police chase ends with arrest of wanted driver

A high-speed police chase occurred on the Hungária körút in Budapest on October 19, involving a white Chevrolet Kalos. Police attempted to stop the vehicle after discovering it had been withdrawn from traffic and lacked valid mandatory insurance.

The female driver refused to stop despite sirens and multiple commands, running three red lights and ignoring two no-entry signs. The pursuit ended when the vehicle began emitting smoke. Upon stopping, the driver surrendered with her hands raised, and all occupants were taken to the ground.

Investigations revealed the 31-year-old driver had never held a driver's license and was subject to two active warrants. A telescopic metal baton was found inside the vehicle. One of the two passengers was also found to be wanted by authorities. Rapid drug tests performed on all three occupants returned positive results. The driver faces charges including driving under the influence, unlicensed driving, and various traffic violations, while the passengers face proceedings regarding drug possession.
